Gulbarga: Well-known student’s activist and Social Worker Umer Junaidi has been appointed as the General Secretary of Gulbarga District Unit of NSUI (Congress’s Students Wing). He is known to be a close confidante of Chittapur MLA Priyank Kharge. A Letter to this effect was handed over to Umer Junaidi by Vishal S Patil, District President of NSUI, in presence of MLA Priyank Kharge. It is been speculated that this appointment has been made on Kharge Jr.’s suggestion due to the activities of Umer Junaidi. His Father Masood Junaidi is a well known Businessman, Religious personality (Mutawalli) & Educationist.
Junaidi, A 2nd year Law Student from Gulbarga’s Siddhartha Law College, has been a founding member of several pro-students organizations and has rose up through ranks with his exceptional oratory and organizing ability. He had hit the limelight last year with his strong oratory in the Anti-CAA movement in Gulbarga addressing several gatherings and organizing protests and dharnas. He is an active student’s leader who is regular speaker at the Socio-political gatherings in Gulbarga.
Coupled with his Students Activism, Umer Junaidi has a solid online media presence which has enhanced his stature in Congress’s organizational Structure. His Facebook page boasts of more than 60thousand followers, and has gathered millions of views on his videos. As a Part time Vlogger, He also has his own show “The voice of Umer” and has given regular interviews many of which have crossed 100K views barrier.
Commenting on the appointment he said “I am thankful for the opportunity given to me by the Congress Party. I am enthused with the challenge. I especially Thank Mr Priyank Kharge who have gotten me this chance. Yes, the fight ahead is very tough but as they say, tough time create strong men, who create good days, I will try my best to expose the current regime’s anti-education and anti-students policies and I will not rest until we have a Congress government at the Centre”.
