Gulbarga: Gulbarga MLA Kaneez Fatima has issued a statement about the Julus-e-MeeladunNabi Procession. In a written statement released to the media she said that the decision to cancel the Procession due to the Corona Virus Pandemic & Government guidelines was a Collective one taken by the Seerat Committee Gulbarga and Not her alone. Full Text of Her statement is produced below.
“The people & history of Gulbarga is a witness that it was the Qayede-Mohtaram Marhoom Qamar ul Islam sahib who had laid foundations of the Julus-e-Muhammadi on 12th Rabi-ul-awwal. And he strove hard to keep celebrating it every year till he was alive.
The Julus has since been taken out every year without fail and with utmost respect and peace. It is a record that never in 43 years, there has been an untoward incident during Julus-e Muhammadi PBUH. It is a splendid example of Unity, brotherhood and peace in entire city.
As you all know that after the sad Demise of Qayed-e-Mohtaram, the Julus has been carried out under the Patronage of Dr Alhaj Khusro baba (Sajjada nasheen KBN Dargah Gulbarga) & guardianship of Alhaj Anwar-ul-Haq Moti Seth.
Due to the Corona Virus Pandemic, a lot of festivals in India have been affected and celebrated in restrictions. The restrictions have continued (some relaxed) and owing to this we discussed about the Julus-e-Muhammadi with Gulbarga District administration as soon Rabi-ul-Awwal began.
The Markazi seerat committee members took a collective decision that we should wait for government’s Guidelines before starting the preparations for Julus. Then very next day a Delegation of Seerat committee met with DCP Kishore Babu and asked permission for Julus, which he said will be given only after consulting the Govt on guidelines and SOPs. I was in constant touch with the Police Commissioner, DCP etc hoping that the Julus was taken out as every year.
But when the guidelines & circulars were released, we met with DCP Kishore Babu again for Permission of Julus, He informed us that he have to discuss this with the Gulbarga City police Commissioner.
But then I was informed that the Government has denied permission for Julus all over Karnataka including Gulbarga, due to which the Gulbarga police cannot give permission for Julus. My Son, Faraz spoke to Gulbarga police commissioner, who said that the Govt & administration has requested MLA Madam (me) to make a Statement regarding cancellation of Julus and celebration of Meelad in a limited manner. To which I said that since the Julus is being carried out in patronage and guardianship of SajjadaNasheen and others, I have to consult him. And only after consulting the elders, I can make a statement.
The Office bearers of Seerat Committee met with Janab Dr Khusro Baba and upon his suggestion an overwhelming number of Committee agreed that it is better to celebrate the Eid with limitations as the confrontation on this holy occasion won’t be good for city’s atmosphere. And it was collectively decided that the Julus e Muhammadi will not be carried out this year.
Many people have doubt that I didn’t try to get the permission for Julus-e Muhammadi, this is slanderous. I am Widow of Qamar ul Islam, I am as much of a Ghulam of Prophet Muhammad as my husband was. I have been associated with this almost my whole life. The decision to celebrate the Meelad in limited way was a collective one, due to the pandemic and keeping in view the atmosphere of the city and wellbeing of our people. I request you all to support it as you have been supporting Us for past 40 years. I wish you all a very hearty Eid-Meeladunnabi Mubarak.”
