Winter peaks in Telangana, COLD-WAVE alert issued for next 48hrs.

Hyderabad: Severe ColdWave alert issued for Telangana as temperature may dip to single digits in many districts. As tweet of Telangana Weatherman suggests strong northerly wind blast is resulting in sharp dip in mercury throughout Telangana state.

Temperature will drop upto 3-5°C in parts of North and West Telangana where as Hyderabad and places close to its outskirts may witness 7-8°C min temperature during 18-22 December this year tweeted Telangana Weatherman. Tweet also suggests morning temperature of 19 Dec has dropped 2° below as recorded in past 2 days indicating massive ColdWave starting from tonight. Peak effect of winter will be on 20-21 Dec.

T. Balaji, a weather enthusiast giving unofficial weather updates on Twitter said there was a severe cold wave with temperatures to drop to 3-5 degree Celsius in parts of Telangana.

According to Telangana state planning development society lowest temperature recorded this year till Friday was Ginnedari in Kumaram Bheem at 8.0°C. Marpalle in Vikarabad recorded 8.9°C, Kohir in Sangareddy witnessed 9.0°C and Reddypalle in Rangareddy recorded 9.1°C.
Tweet also suggests Sangareddy, Adilabad, KB Asifabad, Kamareddy, Vikarabad should be under alert.

According to the Indian Metrological Department (IMD) in Hyderabad, temperatures may continue to fall over the following three to four days and may go below 10 degrees in Adilabad. Temperatures have dropped due to the north easterlies in Telangana and the western disturbance in north India.

 

“Over the next three to four days, temperatures will continue to dip below average by roughly 3-4 degrees,” said K Naga Ratna, director of IMD. It’s not yet a cold front. The temperature in Adilabad is being watched since it may go below 10 degrees Celsius. In the next days, temperatures in Hyderabad might reach 17 degrees Celsius,” she added.

The lowest minimum temperature was recorded on December 15 at Adilabad, Telangana, at 12.2 degrees Celsius, according to official data from the India Meteorological Department IMD. According to the IMD, certain sections of the state saw a temperature drop that was above average — a shift of 1.6 degrees Celsius to 3 degrees Celsius.
