Hyderabad | Talha Hussain Gulbargavi: On 13th June 1659, Muhiuddin Muhammad, The Mughal Prince-Viceroy of Deccan, was crowned as the 6th Mughal Emporer of India. He took the royal title as Alamgir (”Conqueror of the World’) but the history would remember him by the name of Aurangzeb (‘Ornament of the Throne’). He went on to build India’s biggest empire which spread over 40 Lakh Kilometers and by 1707 comprised of 24% of the World’s population and 25% of the World’s GDP surpassing china.
3 Centuries later, he is the most widely debated King of India, who is both loved and reviled in the subcontinent by a section large enough to keep him in the debate alive. the political project of Marathas, British and later Sangh Parivar Notwithstanding Aurangzeb Alamgir remains most respected Indian Muslim King especially in the Muslim community.
