Sonu Nigam, Once Opposed Saying Azaan In Loudspeakers, Now Finds Peace in Dubai

After Tejasiv Surya, now the ire of netizen’s has turned on another Islamophobe, Sonu Nigam. Not long ago on April 16, 2017, Mr Sonu has incessantly and vigorously tweeted that Azaan in the loudspeakers in India must be banned. He had twitted that because of the sound of Azaan, he has to be woken up in the morning. His tweet read, “God bless everyone. I’m not a Muslim and I have to be woken up by the Azaan in the morning.” He termed calling Azaan a form of forced religiousness and added, “when will this forced religiousness end in India.” He then goes on to dictate, “And by the way Mohammed did not have electricity when he made Islam. Why do I have to have this cacophony after Edison?” The meaning of which can be best derived as: In his views Islam is a commodity or something of that sorts which Prophet Muhammed “made”. And that the electricity is not meant for the followers of the “made up” religion as it was not available when this religion was “made”.

He followed up his tweet with another one and termed calling Azaan “Gundagardi ” (a rowdy behavior).

However, now the same Sonu Nigam is finding peace and solace in UAE, a Muslim country which has more than 6800 mosques. He says, his second home is Dubai where his son studies, and wife too stays for most time of a year. Sonu often visits his wife and son and he too stay in Dubai where roughly 2100 mosques reverberate Azaan 5 times a day, including early in the morning around 4.30. In such conditions, Sonu must be surrounded with echoing of Azaan from all directions of the city and yet finding peace and solace?

Sonu Suspends Twitter Account

After netizens pulled out Sonu’s old tweets and started informing the UAE authorities, the 46-year-old singer has suspended his twitter account. Sonu is currently in Dubai with wife and son. Netizens are questioning his hate towards Muslims yet preferring a Muslim country. We couldn’t independently verify since when his account has been suspended.
