‘Aaj Tak’ Reports Muslims Celebrated Eid, When Ramadhan Is Yet To Begin

New Delhi: It’s proved yet again how reckless has mainstream electronic media of India gone , and how important is the role of fact checking websites in the current set up. Hindi News Channel ‘Aaj Tak’ on Monday erred again as it carried a news in one of its morning bulletins reporting that the Muslims in Bhubaneswar offered Eid prayers at their homes and the mosques in the city remained deserted due to the lockdown.

The news caught the eyes of many viewers as the holy month of Ramadhan is expected to begin later this week and Eid falls after a month, after the completion of Ramadhan.

The News Channel wrongly carried the news as Eid is more than a month away from being celebrated.

The news was carried in “Non-Stop 100” morning bulletin on April 20. The news was carried as the 87th piece of the bulletin which carries 100 pieces of new from across the country.

Several viewers took note of the mistake by the channel and commented on the video, expressing their surprise as what made the channel to carry the news.
