Karnataka COVID-19 Update: Weekend (Sat & Sun) curfew withdrawn until further notice. Know the new guidelines.

The state government has issued a few changes to the Covid control measures, including the repeal of the weekend curfew in the state and the continuation of week-night curfews. The Government order states that the State Government based on the initial signs of resurge of COVID 19 in the State has proactively imposed graded containment measures vide orders of even number dated 03-12-2021, 26-12-2021, 04-01-2022 and 11-01-2022 & its connecting orders in the State and will be in force upto 31-01-2022.

The Order Copy states that the situation of COVID 19 in the State was reviewed again on 21-01-2022. The Technical Advisory Committee has analyzed the prevailing COVID 19 situation and case trajectory in the State. It is observed that though there is a steep rise in the number of new COVID 19 cases across the State, the number of severe illness and fatalities are comparatively low when compared to past surges. Further, hospitalization has remained consistently low at 5% when compared to about 16% to 21% hospitalization during the earlier surges and also the recovery time has significantly reduced to 7 days from 14 days in the current surge and the recovery rate is 50% of the fresh case as per the current trend. Further, the State Government has been meticulous in implementing five-fold strategy of test-track-treat-vaccination and adherence to COVID appropriate behavior to combat the surge in cases. The State has ramped up the medical infrastructure to provide effective treatment to the infected persons anticipating the peak requirement.

“Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred under the Section 24 (l) of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, the undersigned, in the capacity of the Chairman, State Executive Committee, hereby issues modifications to the orders of even number dated 04-01-2022 and 11-01-2022, as below, which will come into force immediately and will remain in force upto 31-01-2022, for strict implementation by Chief Commissioner BBMP, Police Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners, Superintendents of Police, and other Heads of Departments and
Authorities.” It Added
