Karnataka BJP leader Ramesh Jarkiholi, Minister of Water resources and Gokak MLA resigned on Wednesday after an alleged sex tape of the minister went viral on various social media platforms. However the minister decided to resign on moral grounds and said “Allegations against me are far from the truth. Clear investigation is needed.

The video clip apparently shows the minister getting intimate with an unidentified woman whose relatives have filed a complaint against the minister, which was widely shared by the local news channels as ‘Sex for job’ scandal.

Chief minister B.S Yeduyurappa has accepted the resignation and further investigation is being done by the police. This comes as an embarassing moment for BJP party in Karnataka as the Budget session is set to begin tomorrow. The Congress leaders have sought free and fair investigation in the case.

Ramesh Jarkiholi was the chief architects of the downfall of JDS-Congress government headed by the then chief minister H.D Kumaraswamy in 2019. It is said that he was the key conspirator of the defections of various Congress and JDS MLAs in helping the formation of BJP government under B.S Yediyurappa.
