DHNS: The indefinite dharna by advocates demanding land for a new District Court complex entered the second day on Friday, outside the Yadgir Tahsildar’s office.
Hundreds of advocates, who boycotted court proceedings, continuously shouted slogans against the State government as it has failed to allocate land for the purpose.
Baburao Chinchansur, president of Karnataka State Border Development Authority (KSBDA), who visited the venue of the dharna, discussed the issue with the advocates.
He told the advocates that he would talk to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Revenue Minister Kagodu Thimmappa once he went back to Bengaluru and bring pressure to bear on them to finalise the issue in the next Cabinet meeting.
And, Mr. Chinchansur requested them to withdraw the dharna.
Disagreeing with this suggestion, B.B. Killanakeri, president of the Advocates Association, said, “We were betrayed the last time but this time we have decided not to back off till land is allotted for the construction of the District Court buildings.”
When it became evident that the advocates were firm in their decision, Mr. Chinchansur said that he would extend his support to them.
Gangadhar Awanti, G. Narayana Rao, G. Bhimarao, M.M. Kantimani, Nagabhushan, Ashwin Awanti and others were present.
