Vice-president Venkaiyah Naidu to visit Bidar district on September 17.

Bidar: Deputy Commissioner H R Mahadev, here on Tuesday, directed officials to make necessary preparations for welcoming Vice-president of India Venkaiah Naidu to Bidar district on September 17.

Presiding over a preparatory meeting of district-level officials at his office in Bidar on Tuesday, Mr Mahadev directed the officials to ensure that the entire visit of the vice-president goes on smoothly. “Many senior-most officials will visit the district to attend the scheduled programmes. So district officials have to make sure that they do not face inconvenience”, Mr Mahadev said.

“During his tour, Vice-president Naidu will launch ‘Swachata He Seva’ programme in the district. He will declare 25 villages in the district free from open defecation. This apart, 27 wards of the urban local bodies will be declared free from open defecation”, ZP CEO R Selvamani informed to the meeting. He added that the scheduled function of the vice-president will be held at Aliyabad village in Bidar taluk.

The role of various committees to be formed to look after the programmes, was discussed at the meeting.

Superintendent of Police D Devaraju and district-level officials of various departments were present at the meeting.
