Teachers in Koppal Not Paid for 2 Months

Government primary and high school teachers in Koppal taluk have not been given their salary for two months. However, teachers in other three taluks have been paid promptly.According to sources, there are some discrepancies in the release of annual grants for the head account of teachers’ salary by the government.

Sources said annual requirement of teachers’ salary is pegged at `7.69 crore and the government has released just `5.69 crore.In all, there are 1,327 primary and 368 high school teachers in Koppal taluk.Despite repeated pleas in this regard by the Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer, the government is yet to respond.Meanwhile, teachers have also appealed to higher officials to release salary grants.

State Disabled Employees’ Union organising secretary Beerappa Andagi told Express that officials of the Education Department have failed to pursue with the government for release of grants for the salary.Koppal Block Education Officer Umesh Pujar, however, maintained that salaries have been delayed due to administration issues.

The Koppal Zilla Panchayat has been informed of the same, he added.
