Tanveer Sait in trouble, meets CM Siddu, Files Case against Cameraman & reporter

Bengaluru, Nov 13: Amid demands for his resignation for allegedly looking at girls’ pictures on his mobile at a public function, Karnataka Minister Tanveer Sait today met Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and said he was ready to face any probe in the incident.

In an embarrassment to the Siddaramaiah-led Congress government in Karnataka, the state’s Minister for Primary and Secondary Education Tanveer Sait was captured on television cameras watching sexually explicit pictures on his mobile phone during an official function. The event was organised to mark the birth anniversary of Tipu Sultan in the northern district of Raichur on Thursday.

Tanveer files complaint against news channel
Two days after he was caught on camera flipping through sleazy videos on his mobile phone, primary and secondary education minister Tanveer Sait filed a police complaint against the district correspondent and cameraman of a private television channel who zoomed in on his phone during a public function.

In a complaint filed at Raichur (West) police station, Mr Sait has charged the district correspondent of the television channel, Siddu Biradar, and cameraman (name not mentioned in the complaint) with insulting him and tarnishing his image. “Though I did not watch porn pictures on my mobile during the celebration of Tipu Jayanthi function on Noveber 10, the TV 9 district correspondent and its cameraman telecast on their channel the news alleging that I had watched porn pictures. By doing this, they have insulted me, and tarnished my image. Hence, I seek action against them as per law”, Mr Sait stated in his complaint.

Following his complaint, a case under section 504 of IPC (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) has been registered by officers of Raichur (West) police station.

To a question on filing a complaint against journalists belonging to a media channel, Sait said, “When I had sought entire raw video from the media channel, they said they can’t give. “I could have obtained only after filing a complaint. I have clearly said in my complaint also that the background for it is to obtain the raw video and subject it to inquiry.”

“I have given complete details, in this regard too, to the Chief Minister,” he added. Sait said the Chief Minister has also obtained certain information about the incident from the Cyber Crime Division. “I will abide by any decision of the Chief Minister and the party. I will not indulge in any activity that will cause discomfort to them,” he added.
