Gulbarga: Shahabad is turning into a den of illegal activities. It has become ‘Bhatkal’ of North Karnataka, said Sriram Sene leader and seer Siddalinga Mahaswami of Andola village.
He was addressing the Sene workers during a meeting held at Sri Sharanabasaveshwara Temple here on Thursday.
The seer was in the town on Thursday to stage a protest in front of the CMC office against the desecration of Hindu Gods by miscreants. However, he dropped the plan following request from officials and later held a meeting with workers.
“Police have said that miscreants involved in the incident will be arrested in 48 hours. I challenge that police will not be able to arrest the culprits even after 100 hrs.”
The district in-charge minister, MP from the region and others would have rushed to the spot if the desecration involved any other religion, he said.
He lauded SP’s efforts to clear encroachments in vegetable market and fruits market in the town.
Sangameshwara Sansthana Mutt, Tonasanahalli (S), pontiff Revanasidda Charanteshwara Shivacharya spoke on the occasion. The town remained peaceful on Thursday.
