Senior Civil Judge Caught Accepting Bribe of Rs 5 lakh in Bidar

BIDAR:  The Karnataka High Court Vigilance Wing caught Basavakalyan senior civil judge Sharanappa Sajjan red-handed while accepting a bribe near the Basaveshwar statue on the outskirts of Basavakalyan city here on Monday night.

Complainant Kashinath told Express that the senior civil judge demanded `5 lakh to dispose of a case related to chairmanship of the Sri Gurubasaveshwara Education Society, Hulsur. He said he was elected as the society chairman in 1975, but the Hulsur seer occupied it, so he had filed the petition at Basavakalyan court. Meanwhile, Registrar General B A Patil confirmed the news and said he is yet to get a report on the same.
