India and it’s Muslim Community loses one of its Icon as Ameer e Shariat Karnataka, Hakim ul Ummat, Maulana Mufti Ashraf Ali Sahab passes away.

It is with deep grief and heavy Heart that we would like to inform everyone the sad demise of Amer-A-Shariat Moulana Mufti Ashraf Ali saheb has passed away today the 8th September 2017 around 2.30 am.

Namaz e Janaza will be held in Bangalore tomorrow (Saturday 9 September) at 10.00 am. (Place of Namaz e Janaza wasn’t confirm but most probably it will take place in the Madarsa Sabeel ur Rashad Campus. Confirmed place will be updated Soon as possible.

An icon for coexistence and Mutual harmony

A known votary of Muslim Unity, Maulana Ashraf Ali was the Rector of Madarsa Darul Ulum Sabeel ur Rashad Bangalore which is one of the biggest Muslim Seminary in the South India Region. The Rashadi Ulama form a major chunk of Islamic scholars today in Karnataka and most of them were his students.

Maualana was also a active participant of Muslim movements as he was a important member of All India Muslim Personal Law Board (also it’s Founder Member) in his Capacity as the Ameer e Shariat Karnataka. He Was the State President of Jamiat e Ulama e Hind Karnataka, and had led many campaigns regarding Minorities. He was considered as a top Islamic intellectual and many in Congress would seek him out for guidance in minority issues.

He was a champion of Muslim Unity and he lived to his words. He shared stage with all the Ulama of major sects without much hesitation and always Exhorted his students to do so. He was also a champion of course existence and tolerance, as the Top Muslim cleric of Bangalore, it was also his achievement that the Bangalore was considered as one of the best metropolitan cities for Minorities in a Research work.

His achievements and services to the Society had no parallel

He was also the National Vice president of All India Milli Council. He was also the founder member of Fiqh Academy of India a premier research academy in the matters of Fiqh. He also headed the Karnataka chapter of International league of Islamic Literature.

But perhaps his most important work and area was imparting Islamic education in the community. He was the Member of Advisory board of Nadwatul Ulama Lucknow which is an Internationally acclaimed Islamic University. He Patron of a handful of organizations and Especially the Madarsas in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh Making him one of the most sought after guest in the Graduation conferences of these Madarsas. He was a regular speaker on Islamic conferences in South India.

His crown feather although was the way he developed the Madarsa Sabeel ur Rashad, founded by his Father Maulana Shah Abu Saood who was from Tamil Nadu. After decades of being Headed by Moulana Mufti Mohammed Ashraf Ali Baqavi, Sabeel ur Rashad now has over 600 students and more than 100 classes where the College teaches various courses and a beautiful Masjid which has the capacity to hold 3500 faithfuls in one go.

The hostel block is separate for the students from all over the world. The magnificent library is said to host around 30000 books.the playground and other facilities rival that of a modern University all along.

Students from Sri Lanka, Malaysia,Spain, Yugoslavia, Maldives, Thailand, West Indies, New Zealand, USA and the UK are a normal sight in the institution.

Inna lillahi wa Inna ilaihi rajiun

It is a huge huge loss to the Muslim community . And Given his status as the India’s top cleric who represented India in Muslim world, it’s not wrong to say that he was a Icon of India itself. May Allah grant him jannatul Firdous.. Inna lillahi wa Inna ilaihi rajiun.
