Kalaburagi Urban Development Authority (KUDA) to develop parks in various areas at cost of 23 crores

Gulbarga: The Kalaburagi Urban Development Authority (KUDA) is developing parks in various areas in the city at a cost of ~ 23 crore, said KUDA Chairman Md Asgar Chulbul.

Chulbul, who visited some of the parks on Tuesday, said, to avoid encroachment of 199 gardens in the city, compound will be constructed around the parks at a cost of ~ 15.63 crore.

“Walking tracks will be constructed in 45 parks at a cost of ~ 5.68 crore for the benefit of the people. Tenders have been called for the construction of walking track in another 21 parks at a cost of ~ 1.75 crore.”

For children to play, amusement items like swings, slides and others will be installed in 18 parks at a cost of ~ 50 lakh. The parks will be protected and beautified for the benefit of the residents, he added.

Chulbul said, it is the duty of the residents of the respective areas where parks are situated to protect them. The residents by forming park protection committees should protect the parks and also nurture them. All the parks in the city will be developed and will be handed over the Kalaburagi Mahanagara Palike. In future, the Palike will be entrusted the responsibility of maintenance of the parks, he added.

Green cover

To increase green cover in the parks, saplings are being planted by forest department. The department will nurture the saplings for the next three years, he added.

Basith, a class sixth student and a resident of Makkah Colony, said, the park in his area now has swings and slides and it was fun to play with them. “Earlier, these were only in Appa Garden and we had to go there. But now these are near our house.”

He said, a lot of students from Raza-E- Mustafa madrasa also come to play in the park and hence they have a lot to friends to play with now. He also said that during the evening, ice cream and chaat vendors line up near the park and they also get to have nice snacks. Similar views were expressed by Shaikh Hassan, Hussain, Mohammed Nabi and others who were playing in the park at the Makkah Colony.

Chulbul visited parks in Sadashivanagar, Ghabare Layout, Navjeevan Nagar, Dariyapur, GDA Layout, NGO Colony and Devi Nagar.
