Gulbarga||DHNSI: The State government will construct 11,000houses (quarters) ata cost of Rs 2,200under ‘Gruha 2020’ scheme for police personnel across the state, said Home Minister Ramalinga Reddy.
He was speaking after inaugurating 120 police quarters and new building of Station Bazaar Police Station at DAR Ground here on Monday. The programme was organized by Kalaburagi district police and Karnataka State Police Housing and Infrastructure Development CorporationLtd (KSPHandIDCL). He said, earlier, each quarter was 600 sqft in area. But this has been raised to 80) sqft with two mandatory bedrooms. Further, PSIs get a quarter which is 900 sqft, he added.
The minister said, “The Kalaburagi City Commissionerate will be established at a cost of Rs 152 crore and with 500-plus staff. It will be established by December end,” h added.
He said, the Congress government had made recruitment
to police department, which had been stopped for the past five years by the previous government and recruited 25,000 personnel to the department.
Chief Guest Kalaburagi MP Mallikarjun Kharge said that Rs 21.45 crore had been sanctioned for the construction of 120 quarters but the same was constructed for Rs 16.5 crore. The Rs 5 crore saved on the project should be utilised to develop police infrastructure in the district, he suggested.
Kharge suggested that the amount could be used to develop roads inside Police Training College at Naganahalli. He said that the commissionerate should be started immediately and could function from the old building of Station Bazaar Police Station as a new building has been constructed for the station and is about to be shifted. The new building has been constructed at a cost of Rs 1.16crore. He said, once commissionerate is established, the commissioner will have magisterial powers and procedural delays could be avoided.
He stressed for construction new police station buildings at eight place in the district including at
Aland, Afzalpur, Sedam, Chincholi, Kalagi and other places.
District In-charge Minister Sharanprakash Patil said that HKRDB had sanctioned Rs 13 crore for development of infrastructure to police department. DG and IGP Rupak Kumar Dutta, ADGP (G and HR) and In-charge MD KSPH and IDCL SanjaySahay and others were present. DHNewsService
