Bidar, dhns: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State General Secretary Raghunath Malkapure demanded the resignation of Municipal Administration Minister Eshwar Khandre for irregularities surfacing in Bidar City Municipal Council (CMC).
Speaking to media persons at the party office here on Sunday, he said, two senior officials of the CMC had transferred the commercial land worth lakhs of rupees of the CMC to a private individual at lesser price.
It was publicly alleged that the minister had put pressure on the CMC commissioner K Narasimha Murthy who is now suspended and the senior sub-registrar S M Hemesh to commit the wrong doing. However, following the complaint both were arrested by the police recently for causing loss to exchequer. A fair probe should be conducted to ascertain the truth behind the entire issue and impartial trial should be held. Therefore, Khandre should resign owning moral responsibility, he demanded.
The BJP had been seeking impartial probe into the issue. It was also decided to hold agitation on taluk-level and plan at district headquarters too. Opposition, however, constantly maintained pressure on this issue which raised serious doubts in the minds of people. Hence in such a circumstance, Khandre should tender the resignation to pave a way for the police authorities to conduct an impartial probe, he said.
