THE HINDU || Gulbarga : Hyderabad Karnataka still had some reasons to smile regarding the State Budget.
The Chief Minister has proposed to develop Kalaburagi district as a ‘Bharat Solar District’ for manufacturing solar panels, inverters, capacitors and luminators used in solar power generation. However, no specific fund allocation is made.
Another major announcement is the establishment of a tourism university at Hampi in Ballari district in association with private players. The proposed university is aimed at promoting human resources by providing continuous training.
Kalaburagi, along with Dharawad and Mysuru, will get a frozen semen distribution centre. Of the three super-speciality hospitals proposed for providing tertiary healthcare services, Kalaburagi will get one. The remaining two cities are Belagavi and Mysuru.
The Koppal medical college will get a new 450-bed hospital along with Gadag, Chamarajangar and Hassan.
Though the budget promises to give special emphasis to the textile industry in Ballari district, no specific fund allocations are made against it.
The other budgetary proposals for Hyderabad Karnataka include the assistance to be provided to SC/ST graduates aspiring to appear competitive examinations such as UPSC, KPSC, banking and others in collaboration with private training institute in Kalaburagi and the allocation of Rs. 2,000 crore capital to the companies who come forward to manufacture agricultural implements in Bidar district in the next five years.
