Gulbarga: The Khaja Bandanawaz University (KBNU) has come into effect from August 23. The Government of Karnataka, following a proposal submitted by the Khaja Education Society (KES) for the establishment of the varsity, has issued Gazette notification on August 23 with immediate effect, said Sajjada Nasheen of Hazrath Khaja Bandanawaz Dargah Sharif Syed Shah Khusro Hussaini aka Khusro Baba.
He was addressing a press conference Khaja Bandanawaz University Campus here on Thursday. “Some of the PG courses will be started this year itself and in next five years a number of UG, PG and diploma courses would be started,” he said.
The managing committee of KES in a meeting held on August 27 had resolved to appoint Dr Khusro Hussaini saheb as the chancellor of the university. Syed Muhammed Ali Al-Hussaini has been appointed as Pro-Chancellor, Prof Abdul Jaleel Khan M Pathan as first vice-chancellor and Dr H M Virupakshaiah as first pro-vice-chancellor, he said. KBN University will be fifth University and the third private university in the district.
Prof Abdul Jaleel Khan M Pathan, former VC of Central University of Karnataka, said Hussaini was the chancellor of the varsity for the life or till the time he vacated his office. The KES has eight higher education institutions which are currently under various universities of the state, he said. Dr H M Virupakshaiah and others were present.
