Bidar, dhns: As many as 76 persons suffered from gastroenteritis in last 48 hours at Mannayekkelli area in Humnabad taluk.
On Saturday 15 persons were admitted to Mannayekkelli community health centre, six persons at Nirna Primary Health Centre and two at Bagadal Primary Health Centre. At Sindhanakera four persons fell sick. According to sources on Friday evening 28 persons fell sick at Mallayekkelli, 17 at Nirna and four at Bagadal.
District Surveillance Officer M A Jabbar said that drainage water was mixed with the drinking water due to poor sanitation in the villages. The villagers had been drinking contaminated water and this caused the gastroenteritis in the villages.
Gram Panchayat officials were asked to keep the villages clean. Awareness was also being created among the villagers through the Asha workers. A doctors’ team was also deputed to Mannayekkelli to provide immediate medical treatments, he said.
