7 yrs jail for selling drugs

Koppal, DHNS: Deputy Commissioner M Kanagavalli has informed that those who give drugs, liquor, or tobacco products to children below 18 years, or those who use the children in selling and/or distribution of these products would be liable to be punished with seven years imprisonment and a fine of ` one lakh.

This is provided under section 77 of the Juvenile Justice Act, 2015.

As per section 20 (1) of the Karnataka Excise Act, 1965, children below 18 years should not be used for selling and distribution of liquor. If liquor shops and others are found to be doing so, there is a provision in the Act to cancel their licences, the deputy commissioner said.
