1,669 cases of Helmet rule in Gulbarga City in one day.

Gulbarga, DHNS: People Especially motorcyclists were caught off guard when police stopped them and fined them. Many of them were not aware of the Helmet rule being made mandatory from Wednesday in the city, Wearing of helmet has been made compulsory for both riders and pillion riders in the entire district.

On the Day One of the helmet rule, police were seen stopping motorcyclists at various places in the city.

However, the police had given relaxation to women and children in wearing the helmet though there is no such provision in the law. Some of the bikers, who were not wearing helmets and spotted police fining other motorcyclists, were found quickly changing their routes or taking U-turns.

Speaking to Deccan Herald Additional SP Jayaprakash said, “Till now, 1,669 cases have been booked in Gulbarga City and an amount of ~ 1.27 lakh has been collected.”

The drive was conducted at SVP Circle, Jagat Circle, Aland Naka, MB Nagar, Jayanagar and other places. The drive continued upto 10:00 pm on Wednesday, he informed.
