10-year-jail term for rapist

Bidar: A special POCSO court here on Tuesday has sentenced 10 years jail term and imposed a fine of ~ 26,000 on an autorickshaw driver for kidnapping a pre-university student and raping her for four consecutive days.

The special court held Ramesh Valsare (25), a resident of Siddeshwar Colony at Naubad guilty of the crime and pronounced the verdict. He was already married and had two children.

Additional District Sessions Judge J Nanjundayya who is also judge of special POCSO court after hearing arguments from both sides held Valsare guilty and pronounced verdict on Tuesday.

Under Indian Penal Code (IPC) Sections 366 A, 342, 343, 376(2) accused has to serve 10 years jail term and pay ~ 10,000 penalty. Under Section 6 of POCSO Act, he has to undergo 10 years jail term with penalty of ~ 10,000. Both the sentences run concurrently.
